311 had a huge light show, along with confetti cannons, streamer cannons, bubble machines, and cyro jet steam-blasts! In addition, a Moon Landscape backdrop was unveiled for Set 2 and a Mardi Gras backdrop for Set 3. The Mardi Gras backdrop was in honor of the beloved city of New Orleans. And for you 311 historians, the Moon Landscape was the backdrop on 1996/1997
TransisTour
(so 311 paid tribute with an eight song block from the Transistor album!)
Along with a great night of music and spcial effects, the 3-11 Day show included even more visuals with the addition of Stilt Walkers, Poi Glow Twirlers, Burlesque Dancers, an Elvis impersonator, a Drumline and a Marching Band!!
During Intermission 1, a 15 member Drumline performed a routine that included some of the same drum patterns as Applied Science. And during Intermission 2, the 15 member Drumline was joined by a 12 member Marching Band, making for a 27 person ensemble that performed elements of Down and Six!!
The players comprised an all-star performing group of musicians from around the country. Performers had marched and instructed various world champion drum and bugle corps including the Cavaliers, the Santa Clara Vanguard, the Blue Coats and the Blue Devils.
A special thank you goes out to Mike Baroody, Matt Pagnotta and Adam Clay for putting it all together and to Pearl Drums, Adams Concert Percussion, Evans Drum Heads, American Drum Sticks and Mallets, and Zildjian for providing the equipment the group used. |
