A NEW YEAR UPON US!!!
We hope everyone had a great holiday season. 2005 is now in full swing and we look forward to more good times ahead; including a new 311 album and lots of touring, starting this summer!!
THE HIVE IS ALIVE:
311 are busy writing and rehearsing daily at the band's studio, The Hive, in Los Angeles. The new songs are coming along great!! There are now at least 12 new songs, which the band will continue developing musically and lyrically over the next few weeks (as well as writing a couple of more songs for album consideration). The actual recording will take place in February & March - followed by mixing and mastering in April & May.

David Kahne, who has worked with Paul McCartney and Sublime, did some pre-production work with the band over the past several days. David first worked with 311 on the songs "First Straw" & "How Do You Feel" for the Greatest Hits album. The band enjoyed being back in the studio with David, exploring new song ideas. In addition, Saint (Ron St Germain), is back! Saint who has worked with 311 on Evolver, From Chaos and the Blue album, will produce, record and mix the new record. 311 are very excited to have Saint back behind the board dialing in the classic 311 sound!!

Based on the recording schedule, we hope to release the album in July 2005. It's all in the works, stay tuned!!

(For those that have not heard, as a result of the recording schedule, 311 has decided that they will not do a 3-11 Day show this year. It was a difficult decision - but they feel that they must focus on the writing & recording of the new album - as they plan for a summer album release & summer tour. Hopefully the new 3-11 Day DVD with 64 songs will keep you diehard fans satisfied until summer!).
WORDS FROM THE HIVE:
P-NUT:
Hello from the land of 311 where we are working hard on making an album that shows off our performance and writing skills. It's been really fun hearing all the new songs come from idea to complex composition. The process is always fun, but this time I think we are challenging ourselves and in that, we are also challenging our audience, which is what I believe they (you) want.

We will be ready to jump into proper recording-mode pretty soon, as we have most of the album written. I am practicing the already written songs and always writing more stuff, in case it's needed.

I am excited about this time where the album is taking shape. 311 is my favorite band and I love being a part of every step, watching everyone come to the table with more and more skills, it's amazing.

The best thing about us is longevity. We are here for the long haul, and because of people like yourself, we are going to continue to grow together. Long term relationships are the only way to go.

love unconditionally

NICK:
Greetings from the Hive studio. We've been making mad progress. This time we've made sure to document more of the album creation on video. It's both funny and informative. We bought lots of boxes of DV video tape so I pity the guy who has to go through it all to find the good parts. There will be gems. We had two great pre-production sessions working with David Kahne. Now, we're going to record this album with the old family team: us five and Saint. We are going to make sure we finish this album in May so it can come out in early July. You heard it here first, folks! We learned from our mistakes on the last album and we're going to stick to a busy schedule so we can come and rock you guys on a big glorious summer tour. Who's in?! See you there.

New songs are coming every day and we plan to start working with Saint next month. Wish us luck. We're so excited and driven that we'll probably make it on time or better. That's my personal mission. Work hard and enjoy it. Make music from the heart and don't over-think things so they end up taking too long. I'm excited to hear the finished product. Hope you guys are too! Hope you're enjoying the ride! We are! Cheers!

Nicholas
