What if you edit Transistor down to the best 12 to 14 tracks, and then compare that to Soundsystem's 13 tracks?

I often wonder how Transistor would have been perceived if it hadn't been a double album, and was edited down to only the best tracks???

regardless of soundsystems track listing, Transistor is a GREAT album in and of itself. its like comparing apples and oranges. Soundsystem rocks and Transistor holds its on. They both have different sounds. But to say that transistor would have been a lesser album had soundsystem had "your" track listing doesnt really hold water. I think you were trying to say that soundsystem would have been the better album if it had said list. I love both. Maybe a little Transistor bias, cuz i just love the psychodelic feel. I hope they will someday turn into a modern pink floyd. but seeing as to how they dont want to perform 10 min plus songs, i may never get my wish.. take care of yourself and someone else

soundsystem and transistor are great, but MUSIC is the best

this is a good post and i respect ur thoughts. transistor is one of my favorites... so I can't entirely agree. 311 really went nuts with transistor.. ur forgot some classics.. WWIT, transistor, galaxy, use of time, no control. i looooove soundsystem but it cant touch transistor.

well to each his own.
it would come pretty close but i still think transistors got it.
for two reasons
1: i never really liked blizza....(sounds kinda blaphemous huh?)
2: if you did the same thing with the transistor b-sides (that we know of) like the transistor intro, grifter, old funk, space funk, and writers block party, transistor would SOOO have it against that track listing.
imo.
but there are still some unreleased transistor and soundsystem b-sides that im not even sure if the band has heard yet!!
so if those were to be released magically somehow then perhaps i could make a more informed decision.
