In my opinion: I'm glad they have reinvented themselves time and time again. Their older albums were incredible and the reason I got hooked in the first place, but people grow and change. 311's disc library has been somewhat of a soundtrack to my life. They continue to produce original styles and grooves and each album is different from the next. I guess that's part of what I love about them. They always keep me guessing and never let my ears become complacent. I've never doubted a single 311 album. These guys care too much about what they do to ever let a single fan down. Keep up the good work guys.

heard they actually started the recording stage on August 1st, but don't know how much truth there is to that.

Also, I would just like to say that Bob Rock, in my opinion, has really changed the direction of alot of these "commercial" bands he has worked with. I had a friend tell me the other day that this guy basically ruined Metallica! Anyway, one thing I love about 311 is that they are unique, very distinct, and put out music that is truly in a class by itself. there is no similair flavor! This is going to be interesting. I can't wait!

I found myself saying the same thing. I can't wait for the new album. I also have heard and read the same thing about all of their albums: that they would sound like music & grassroots. Although I am a huge 311 fan, and don't get me wrong, I love all of their albums, I cant help but finding this false. The last album even remotely close to the early music & grassroots would be soundsystem. Once again, I hope the rumors are indeed true.

I have been seeing from various interviews that this album will be a return to the Music/Grassroots days for them, and even some more rapping than on the last two albums. I cant argue with that!!! 311 always had the Hip-Hop reggae going, but I loved all the jazz influenced sounds on Grassroots. Grassroots and Transistor are so eclectic I think that's what makes them my favorite, you can tell they experimented a lot on those two albums and got really creative. Sometimes when I see interviews about an upcoming album it sounds like they feel pressure to recreate Music, Grassroots, or the Blue album. As long as they make the music they want to make, and not worry so much about what other people say I think the next album will be killer!

I can't wait for this new album!! I have been craving new material from them for several months now.

I'm looking forward to some new material. It's great to see such a solid band sticking around for so long doing their thing their own way. Even though the sound changes some through each album you can tell they stick the the core of their style. Some bands out there tend to try and fit the current trend, but in my opinion 311 knows you stay around longer if you stick to your guns and keep it real.

Bet a new album will finally stop everyone from bitching about prior albums and who is a real fan and who isn't. I cant wait if thats the case.

I think its funny this is part of the announcement. "So far all is going amazingly well in the studio with 311 & Bob. The band couldn't be happier with the way the album is coming together." Like they were worried it was going to blow up in their face and they knew we would be like....how the fuck are they going to get along?
